The Early Years Blog

Hi! I'm excited about this journey with you! I'd like to share a bit about myself. I'm from a small town. It's the kind of town everyone wants to leave. I use to be one of those people who wanted to get away. Now, it's just home. I went to college because I didn't want to just be a housewife; college was just something to do to kill time. I was passing the years away at the local community college. The crazy thing is being a wife is the best job I have! I can't imagine myself without my husband, and I value what I do at home like I value my work in child care. I didn't know what I wanted to do when I began college. I just kept taking general courses. Then I started working at a daycare. I loved it! I always loved children, but working in a daycare setting, I realized that child care was my passion. I began my major in Early Childhood Education and my career as an Early Childhood Educator. Now I am still in child care as a part time private care giver and tutor, and I have my own shops to help other educators find quality resources. I know learning which lessons were good lessons to plan was a struggle in the beginning. After I learned what kinds of things worked and were developmentally appropriate, lesson planning was still so time consuming; creating the activities was even more time consuming. Now that I am working part time, I have more time on my hands to create and share! I hope to be able to help ease the burden of lesson planning and activity making for other educators. Look for blogs from me each month as I share activities my children use, and as I share my adventures as an early childhood educator with you!
