No. Opening a store to sell digital products on Tip the Teacher is optional. Members can use the site to follow other teachers and learn about teaching practices, inspirations, resources and experiences without creating a store or purchasing products.
Yes, teachers can create a standard Tip the Teacher account and use all the features on it for free. If you choose to sell products online your commission rate will be 65% return on all products sold. If you would like to increase your commission rate to 85% you can purchase a Premium account for $50 for one year.
Tip the Teacher encourages educational businesses to create a profile on Tip the Teacher to keep teachers up to date with current teaching practices, professional development and services that are available. However, Tip the Teacher does not permit businesses to advertise memberships or digital products for sale that would be in direct competition with the products of its members. Any sharing of content or information that advertises memberships or businesses that sell digital products could result in a temporary or permanent ban.
Followers choosing to send tips is voluntary. If you serve the teaching community with information and teaching inspiration, they will want to give back. Followers can choose the amount they would like to send ($2, $5, $10, $20 or $50) and all tips will be processed using the payment Gateway Stripe.
Tip the Teacher holds no responsibility for shared content, images and links by its members. If a registered member posts images of a student or child under the age of 18 years they must have signed consent from the child’s parents or guardians for the image or content to be shared.
